I know we've had this discussion before, but I think the producers should have ended James Bond with Sean Connery. Would've shown some class, but Hollyrock can't leave any potential moneymaking notion alone. James Bond was a man of his era, the 60's, when the idea of an oil slick delivery system and an ejection seat were novelties. And James Bond was a consummate gentleman. Could've come up with a different name for the spy, God knows we've seen enough of the megatoys in Mission Impossible. How can you surprise anyone? Have to have things like invisibility cloaks and mind reading techniques. Could also have Jimmy Bond, or James Bond II or even Jane Bond, daughter of the son of . . . . Of course they haven't tried Ben Afflick as JB. I wonder if he can fake a Brit accent?

The biggest disappointment of the year by far was CASINO ROYALE, the worst James Bond movie ever. Bond is now a mindless thug, not even as clever as Jason Bourne. Lifeless, humorless, and with as much charisma as a carved statue, Daniel Craig purses his craggy lips through an abominable screenplay that can't figure out if it's a love story, a bloodfest, or a live broadcast from the World Poker Championship. Bottom line--there was NO FUN. James Bond is supposed to be fun, but this was downright violent and disturbing with zero emotional payoff. Bond is dead.

I find I have trouble with these "Year-In-Review" things, as most of the movies I watch are on DVD and hence from previous years. So I might be wrong in thinking this was an outstanding year in movies, from BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN (even if you didn't think it was great, it was interesting) through IWO JIMA (which I haven't seen but know I will like as I will FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS) Robin Williams surprised me with his best movie in a decade with THE BIG WHITE. Hell, even KING KONG wasn't a waste of money. I thought the Canadian flick GOOD COP, BON COP was long overdue, and await eagerly the sequel. TRANSAMERICA? COLLATERAL? Were they this year? My only peeve of movies in this era is that they're getting louder (MIAMI VICE), so loud you frequently either hurt your ears and leave one unable to hear the dialogue - which in the case of MV was heavy with Latino accents and jargon. The sound tracks are all muzak anyway, as if to stimulate emotion in a movie that doesn't deserve them. A crappy movie anyway, in my opinion. Anyway, it's getting so bad with the DVD releases (when was THE WEATHERMAN? 16 BLOCKS? ) that they almost need a special category of the best movies we saw in 2006. For me it contenders would be most of the above (other than MV) and TITANIC which I made a point to miss until this year, then decided to watch on a whim and found it surprisingly intelligent. Now I'm just waiting for the sequel. But, like I said, I haven't seen 99% of new releases (like, not one listed on M&M's main page). I can, however, say that it was a bad year for movie reviewers (or rather people like me who depend upon them) Max and Mike, and then Roger Ebert. I'm hoping they're all back in '07 in the finest fettle imaginable. That's all folks.

"I heard that the producer is negotiating to restart the show from January 2007..." Oh, jeez, I hope so! Good luck! We're all in withdrawls here!

In case you didn't notice they posted a year in review thing that is linked on the main page. Yeah, it's not a show, but it's at least their opinions on how 2006 went. Let's see if they come through with some actual show news in 2007

I'm quite sad I won't be able to hear your year in review show this year. Oh well I hope you can get back on the air on sooner or later.

How about some news about broadcast contracts? Or, maybe, simply live on the web...?
