Thanks Mike. I LOVE movies like these and ordered "50 Drive-In Movie Classics", it's fantastic!! It arrived last week and tomorrow night I'm going to watch either "Spare Parts", "Don't Look in the Basement" or "Jive Turkey". Sounds horrendous doesn't it and I can't wait!! Horrible news about Bob Clark and his son--just horrible, drunk drivers never seem to have anything bad happen to them in these terrible crashes. I loved "Porky's" and have "A Christmas Story" on DVD. I grew up listening to Jean Shepherd as a kid on WOR radio. Bob Clark seemed like a nice man too. Was "Black Christmas" rent worthy, Bob Clark's 1976(?) version I mean, not the remake. Thanks in advance.

Meg, Back in the day, a grindhouse was an old theater, usually in a downtown area that had fallen from its glory days and was reduced to showing double features of martial arts movies, skin flicks, "art" films, much like the drive-ins in rural areas and the 'burbs. They usually changed the program several times a week. The prints were in terrible shape with missing frames and scenes, bad splices. But for a couple of bucks, you could watch outrageous movies and eat stale popcorn and drink the beer that you snuck in in your coat pocket. (Big sigh.) Those were the days. Like you, I can't wait to see what QT & RR do with the concept.

I haven't checked the main page yet for Max and Mike's reviews, but what exactly does "Grindhouse" mean? I don't know but I'm really looking forward to this movie! Loved the trashy movies from the seventies at the Drive-Ins!

Dave, I think the movie you're after is "Dark Angel," aka "I Come in Peace" (1990) with the incomparable Dolph Lundgren. I know the year is wrong but it has an alien and a nasty frisbee.

I am in a race to the death with family memebers for Oscar picks. I read Mike's take and that seems to be the popular view(s). I am stuck on Supporting Actor. Seems E. Murphy is getting a lot of run. But I sure liked M. Walberg in the Departed. But will Scorsese sop up all they are willing to give The Departed? I, also, saw Djimon Hounsou in Blood Diamond and thought that was great. It is tough to see them and make picks. Any body have any picks?

Dave, the movie you describe doesn't ring any bells, but you might try "Bad Cinema Diary" or the links page on the site at: www.cathuria.com/bcd/

Question: 70's genre' there was a horror movie I remember in the mid to late 70's where the alien therw these type of disc shapes...looked like sand dollars and and spun in the air like frisbees. they had huge sharp teeth on the underside and they attached themselves to people or object. The perfect effect was one that it threw and attached itself to a window esposiing it's sharp teeth. Either I dreamed all this up or there really was a movie likle this. I never saw the move, only remeber seeing the trailers for it when it cam out ions ago. Anybody???
