Derral, remember me? I was about three years behind you in school. I graduated in 1956. Euyvone McCall gave me your the address to your webpage. I have read it, enjoyed it and was moved to respond to you. I looked at the pictures of the 2005 and 2006 reunion, and I was disappointed, I could only recognize three people from your graduating class besides you. That was (first name I cannot recall right now) Smith, James Snow and Euyvone Garrett. I would not have recognized you if it had not been for your picture at the beginning of your webpage. But it was your poignant story that I related to. I remember those days well and can vouch for the description you presented. Though my life was not near as austere as the experience you had, I was aware that there were many in our neighborhood engaged in subsistent farming. But from that came rich memories of survival, as you related. Your relief and joy came from your music. Besides love and cohesiveness of family, it provided you with amusement, positive relationships, fond memories and a drive to achieve more. What else could one want from life's beginnings? Also, I remember you were a member of the Wayne High School band; you played the baritone, and you were quite good at it, playing a solo part occasionally. I don't know if you recall the band getting new uniforms and how they were acquired. My mother had a sizeable role in that. Today, $4000 does not seem like a sizeable sum. But in 1952, that was a bunch of money. If you remember, a dozen eggs got you 30 cents at the produce market. Gasoline cost 19 cents a gallon, a new pair of overalls cost $4.00, new work shoes cost $8.00. Street shoes were not needed. Light bread, if you bought it, cost 12 cents a loaf. If you ever had the pleasure of eating a plate lunch in a restaurant, it cost 65 cents, tea 5 cents, pie 15 cents, and the governor wanted 4 cents added on to a dollar. Of course, minimum wage was 75 cents an hour. If you worked broomcorn, you got 75 cents an hour and dinner. I thought that was great. I had no complaints, but always wanted more. Thank you for putting up your webpage. It brought about some fond reminiscence. Also, I am pleased to renew our acquaintance after fifty-three years. I know we didn't run in the same circles, but I remember you well and have thought about you several times. Just keep on pickin', and do respond back. Gerry

My name is Frank, a friend of Henry Easter, Jr who played briefly on Wanda Jackson's radio program. I would greatly appreciate if you could e-mail me back. I am so excited to hear him how he could play back then. Please?

Hi, actually I am surfing the Web with the intention to find a suitable script for guest book. Have seen tons of them already. To tell you the truth, this one is not of the greatest, but still customizable, with anti-spam protection (which is way too important for me) and few fields to fill in (I know on my own that random visitors get confused with lots of fields). So long cheers!
