I am truly saddened by this loss of one of our brave military. May God bless and strengthen her family in this time of grief and loss. Our country was fortunate to have someone like her represent us.

I am enrolled in the Red Lake Band of Chippewa in northern Minnesota. My mother was a R.N. in Keams Canyon and Tuba City Arizona. We lived there twice, '86-'88 and again '90-'92. Some of my best memories are of the friends I made among the Hopis there. They treated me and my family as if we were part of thier family, they were so good to us. My sisters children are enrolled in the Hopi Tribe, thier Hopi family is from Hotevilla-3rd Mesa. Thier grandmother, Bonita, lives in Tuba and informed my sister of Lori on March 25. I 1st saw her photo on the front page of the St Paul Pioneer Press the following day. I've been watching out for anything about Lori since that day. I told my mom, Tillie, about it and she spread the word around our reservation. It's so sad to hear of the death of Lori Piestewa after so much hope that she'd be found alive. We attended St Judes Catholic Church during the time we lived in Tuba. The Piestewa family was probably among us while we were there, Lori must've been around 8-10 yrs old back then. This has really hit close to home but WE ARE SO PROUD OF HER!! THANK YOU, LORI , FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY. YOU GAVE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE AND WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR THAT. REST IN PEACE, LORI. KAQWHY!!! MIGWITCH!!!
