CLASS 5-1600 RULE CHANGE @ MORE. Starting August 1 2005 all class 5-1600-race cars will now be able to run power steering as an option at all MORE races. First MORE races that you will be able to run power steering is in September. Just to let everybody know there has been a new post on race-dezert.com by Score Tech about a clarification in the new roll cage rules. I would cut and paste it but it is quite long. The letter is rather blunt, but I figure Score and Savage are probably feeling the effects of all the negitivity they have gotten over this. Hey Ron, Thanks for bringing up the D2G footage. No really thanks! Acually we were in the rough cut of the movie 3 times. I asked them about not using the footage of the roll over, but insteed they removed the other two shots and left the roll. Oh Well, hopefully the other footage will be in the DVD. And as to Tom I thank you for supporting Nikal Motorsports but I truelly believe that most teams are just as nice as mine. Most will take the time to talk to the fans and sign an autograph if asked. But don't get in the way of a driver change and 20 gal of fuel in 1 min 24 sec.

Tom'That was the nikal car that rolled after clipping the 1600 car. Nikal Motorsports races selected races in the 5/1600 and BITD in 10. I am handing the coalition off to someone else at the end of this season and would like to get all the 5/1600 guys together before I leave to review the rules and make changes that would benifit our class and help it to grow and not dissaper like others have. I think we need to have the backing of Art Sevedra to do this (since he does have two 5/1600s) and techs most organizations. I was mistaken on the previous post about all cars needing to be chromoly (changed there minds). Lets face it most of us race on a budget and any change effects us more than other classes. I have some ideas for rule changes to make our cars safer and enhance performance without cleaning out our wallets.

Just wanted to chime in here. I don't race, but I have pitted for a friends 7s truck several times. I would like to race someday in a 5/1600 or 1600 car. All these rule changes cant be good for the sport. Being that SCORE is the biggest most will follow. I hope this dosent cause a split like CART & IRL. I remember the days when SCORE and HDRA were together. They split and HDRA disapered. Also I saw Todd's website and relized he was Nikal Motorsports. I thought they were not racing 5/1600 any more. I thought they were in class 10 now? I also talked to one of there crew guys on a construction site and heared that the nikal team was involved in a trophy truck? Does anyone know what truck? The Nikal guys a top notch as they took the time to give my kid an autographed postercard at a Vegas race. Also Ron what did Todd do for D2G? Could the Coalition ban together and go talk to SCORE and have them change the rules if you are all in agreemnet. BITD will do that for some race trucks if the whole class agrees on it.
