Just wanted to comment on all the hard work that Janet LaBarr Chavez '67 has done in tracking down the info on the passing of my good friend and classmate Dan McClelland '61 in 2002.
I had learned of his passing back then from his best friend Dale Barr '61 who had put me in touch with Dan's widow, but I'd lost all that info.

1961. just a quick correction, he had
other children...myself and my brother
Troy. although we were his step kids he
was married to my mom for more than 14
yrs and he was the first at the hospital
for all my kids. thank you. I love and
miss him so badly

I was known as the Tennyson Baby, i was
born in the month Tennyson Openned. My
Father, Gordon Raymond Smith was a
Teacher counselor at Tennyson from 58
to 81 when he retired. Many of his
students would stop by our home both in
San Lorenzo and Fremont. I was close to
many of the students through the years
and grieved when we got word that
someone had died, either in Vietnam or
of other causes. My dad Died Feb 24,
1985, my Mom who kept a lot of Tennyson
High Students fed when they came by died
March 26, 2011. I think it's very
classy of you to maintain this site.

Gary was my best friend. we did the usual things as young guys do, and what i remember most was his loyalty. Being his friend ment i was included in most things he did, like a brother. He wanted me to be his best man, but i was married so i was an usher instead . I will never forget my best friend Gary. I could rambel all day on our musings, like our building a raft to take a trip down by the Black bridge and along the marsh in south west Hayward. Those were the days in the early 60s. And laying on the front lawn in the evening looking at the stars and wondering what part they take in our lives, Or bicycleing to Niles to explore the canyon, looking for critters. Traiding model cars and airplanes, Raceing eachother on the strip in our Oldsmobles. That was the best time in our, certainly my live.
